Worship Pastor

Bio

Shawn grew up on the border of Ohio and Indiana. His dreams of growing up to play for one of Cincinnati’s premier sports teams never came to fruition, due to an unfortunate lack in the skills required. Thankfully, God had other plans for his life, and in 2006 Shawn moved to Arizona to take on a position at Rock Point Church. Now Shawn is the Worship Pastor and absolutely loves serving the Lord at Rock Point. Shawn has a beautiful wife, Sarah, and a handsome and very funny son, Jack.

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

Super Power: To absorb everyone else’s super powers and abilities. Why?: Because then I could have all of the super powers

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

Whatever my wife chooses for me.

Bio

Mark has been in full-time ministry for over 25 years. He has served in several of the fastest growing churches across the country, and wherever God has placed him he has always strived to help Christians to really live like Christians.

He also has a passion to develop next generation leaders who desire a deeper biblical community in a relationally isolated world. He firmly believes that together we can begin a missional movement that fulfills Jesus commission to help people find their way back to God. Currently, Mark holds a Master’s of Divinity and a Masters of Theology degrees, and is still constantly learning from the school of hard knocks! His other interests include: traveling, table tennis (which is so much greater than ping-pong), and hiking.

Mark and his wife, Carrie, have been married for 29 years and have the pleasure of being the parents of their grown daughter, Candace, and grandparents of one granddaughter, Caprice.

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

Who needs a super power when we’ve been given a direct hotline to God?

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

The truth is that I’ve been accused of making coffee nervous! But if I had to answer truthfully it would be a Grande Americano, no room. I should really make it a just “Tall,” I’m already high strung enough!

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

After spending most of my adult life sitting on 10-hour flights, I think it is natural to want to a superpower that would allow me to transport myself anywhere in the world. As a backup I guess I could have the Flashes speed!

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

I don’t have a favorite coffee that I order, I guess it depends on my mood, so I can range from a flat white if I’m in a serious mood, to a large caramel macchiato, hot or cold, to put me in my happy place.

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

To Fly…yes it’s the obvious one, but really is there anything cooler than flying?

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

Black unsweetened Tea.

headshot_josiah_lee-300x300
High School Pastor

Bio

Josiah Lee has been doing youth ministry in the East Valley for the past 9 years. He’s married to his beautiful wife Mary Ellen and they have two children, Malakai and M.E. (pronounced like “Emmy”). He loves students and the East Valley! He likes to believe that he is good at golf and he may or may not be obsessed with the Arizona Cardinals.

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

The ability to instantaneously generate any amount of cash at any moment as often as I want. Because who wouldn’t want that super power?

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

I’m pretty predicable with my coffee orders. Iced annihilator if I’m going to Dutch Bros, iced caramel blondie if I’m going to Black Rock, and iced caramel macchiato if I’m going to Starbucks.

headshot_steve_brines-300x300
Director of Preteen

Bio

Steve is an Arizona native married to a California girl. He and his wife, Amy, have been married since 2007, and have two daughters, Elona and Maisey. He loves to travel and has been to 11 different countries. He’s a big time Suns fan, loves coffee, dogs, and playing games.

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

If I had a super power, it would be to jump, dunk, and shoot in basketball as if I was in NBA Jam. It would help in pickup hoops games, and in throwing things in garbage cans.

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

I love going to new coffee shops… well, old coffee shops are great too. I love coffee shops! My typical order is a black cold brew, or an americano if I want a hot drink.

headshot_brandon_beebe-300x300 (1)
Director of Groups

Bio

Brandon is from Denver, Colorado and is also a huge Broncos fan. Although he left Texas Tech University his Junior year to attend a military university, he still claims this school as his “alma mater”. When not attending to his graduate studies at Grand Canyon University (Go Lopes!), Brandon likes to go on adventures with his wife Jennifer and their two “Denver” Terriers, Bronco and Champ. He likes to golf, but isn’t very good.

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

Super Power:I would like to be a Holy-spec’d Paladin; mass healing with the ability to DPS without being squishy would be amazing!

Why: If you don’t know what any of that means, ask your local geek-friend.

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

When I walk into any Coffee Shop, I usually order Iced Coffee or Cold Brewed Coffee. Pastor Ryan Lambros loves Dutch Bros… (I’m not sure we are supposed to advertise here but…) he recommends their Cold Brew Coffee in a can and I concur, it’s the best, ever.

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

I get a charge out of being around people so the more people I’m around the more energy I have – so I guess I would love to have lots of people around me so I can stay fully charged for whatever comes my way.

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

I like a little coffee with my Crème Brulee creamer.

headshot_kim_kosar-300x300
Executive Director of Operations

Bio

Kim Kosar joined the staff at Rock Point Church in 2007. She has an extensive background as a senior executive within the non-profit sector, and prior to coming to Rock Point oversaw University Development at San Diego State University. Kim graduated from the University of Utah with a B.S. in Business Management and has a minor in Human Resource Management. She has a special place in her heart for abuse survivors, and is currently a facilitator for Mending the Soul.  Kim also serves on the Board of Directors of the Radiant Health Natural Medical Center.

Kim was recently married, and her and her husband, Alvin, enjoy a variety of outdoor activities.  Hiking, camping, and motorcycle rides are among their favorites.  Kim also loves animals, especially her three rescue dogs Coco, Hope and Liberty.  The other passion in her life is football, which includes the ups and downs of being a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan.

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

I love learning and acquiring knowledge. My choice for a super power would be the ability to place my finger on the cover of a book and instantly absorb — and retain — the entire contents. Then, I would have to rely on God to give me the wisdom to know what to do with all I know.

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

Pourover coffee with coconut milk.

headshot_dave_sutherland-300x300
Executive Director of Environments

Bio

Dave Sutherland was born in North Carolina but lost his southern accent long ago unlike Mark Collins. Dave has also lived in Brazil, Ohio, and Arizona. He went to U of A his first two years and met Denise through soccer there. Dave then came to his senses and went his final two years to ASU and graduated with a Marketing degree. Dave married up to Denise and has two kids, Brooke and Mason who he loves hanging out with. His nicknames have been Toothpick, Super Dave, and Dangerous, all for very good reason.

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

Teleportation. This way maybe I could make meetings on time or get more work done without having to drive. I could meet people in Mexico when we do a missions trip and not have to go through the border crossings or toll booths. I could also make people feel awkward by a surprise visit when they least expect it.

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

I would ask what they have besides coffee. Iced tea would be my order of choice. I like green tea and fruit tea best. If it is black tea I add sweetener. I do not go to a coffee shop on my own though, I only go to meet other people because they usually have a nice atmosphere and other people like coffee.

headshot_jennifer_beebe2-300x300
Lead Director of Connections

Bio

Never in her wildest dreams did Jennifer think she would work for the church. After being in the business field and earning a Masters Degree she found her joy volunteering at Rock Point and joined the staff in 2014. She married her Denver Bronco loving husband Brandon in 2008, not surprisingly the wedding colors were orange and blue. They enjoy spending time with their dogs Bronco and Champ and entertaining friends even when the Broncos lose a game or Super Bowl.

If you could have any super power what would it be? Why?

Superhuman speed so I could clean the house really fast (I hate cleaning and think it takes way too much time). Then I could also stuff the chairs backs and programs really fast! I would also use it for Missions projects and to help people get tasks accomplished.

If you walk into a coffee shop what do you usually order?

When visiting a coffee shop I order the biggest decaffeinated tea they have without sugar. I have enough energy and laughter without a caffeine kick start. Caffeine just makes me talk more and louder which is not what anyone who sits around me wants.
