MISSIONS | Jacob’s Law Training with ASA Now

May 18 @ 8:30AM - 11:30AM

Are you an Adoptive, Foster or Kinship caregiver? Whatever your role in caring for at-risk children – we’d like to invite you attend this hour and a half overview on behavioral health timelines.

The passage of Jacob’s Law has resulted in an increased awareness of family and member rights and has improved access to behavioral health services. Attending educational sessions on Jacob’s Law assists attendees in learning navigate the system, particularly for children/youth with high needs. Ongoing education about Jacob’s Law is critical for both families and any professionals who engage with children.

The presenters are foster and adoptive moms who faced great burdens and barriers to care for their children. Anika, Susan and Angela took on the cause of helping thousands of children and families throughout the state of Arizona and effectively helped pass Jacob’s Law. Jacob’s Law provides required timelines to access behavioral and urgent health services, requires a placement packet, provides protections for caregivers and it provides Out-of-Home request timelines. They went on to become the founders of ASA Now, a nonprofit that Advocates, Supports and Assists Families and Children in Need.

Beverages and light snacks will be provided. If you have any questions and/or concerns, please contact Melissa Davis at melissa.davis@rpcvolunteer.com.
