Need Financial Assistance for Middle School or High School Summer Camp? Work your way to camp at our Camp Work Day. This year instead of doing service projects at the church we’ll be volunteering at Feed My Starving Children for one of their packing sessions. For more info about FMSC go to: fmsc.org/about.
We’ll meet at the church Saturday, May 4 at 7:30am and return at 12:00pm.
Prior to the event students will need to find sponsors (neighbors, family friends, extended family, parent’s co-workers, etc.) that will make a sponsor payment(s) toward the students summer camp cost. This event acts along the same lines as a jog-a-thon. Each student asks potential sponsors to support them in paying for their camp cost in exchange for the student committing to volunteer their time at our Camp Work Day event.
Students can saying something like this to potential sponsors:
“Hi, my name is _________ and I want to work my way to summer camp this year. I am trying to earn $________. I am going to be participating in a Camp Work Day with my church, May 4, by volunteering my morning to work at a packing session at Feed My Starving Children, which is a non-profit that uses volunteers to package meals to send to countries or areas in need. Would you consider sponsoring me and helping me pay for summer camp?”
All payments will need to be submitted to Rock Point Church by May 12 for those going to the Middle School Camp and June 9 for those going to the High School Camps.
We have created online payment forms to make it easier for sponsors to pay towards a students camp balance. After a student is registered for the Camp Work Day they’ll receive an email with the link for sponsors to use to pay for the specific camp the student will be attending.
If the sponsor prefers to pay with cash or check, all funds must be dropped off in an offering box at church in an envelope with the label “ATTN: Jenn Reeher – Camp Work Day for (Students First/Last Name)” please make sure to include the sponsor’s first/last name, street address, email address, and phone number so we can process the payment. All checks need to be made payable to Rock Point Church.
Registration for the Camp Work Day is required by Sunday, April 28.
Each student will need to have the 2019-2020 RPC Parent Consent Form completed by Wednesday, May 1.
Participants must come prepared to volunteer at FMSC by wearing clean comfortable clothes, closed toe shoes, and no jewelry.
Please make sure student has eaten before the event as well since there will not be breakfast or lunch provided during this time.
Contact Jenn Reeher at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns.
